Rally 2007 official Statement

The fifth annual Cannonball 8000 Rally came to a successful close in Croatia on Sunday evening, 16th September 2007.  120 vehicles, from Supercars such as Jaguars, Aston Martins and Lamborghinis, to novelty transport like the cartoon fire engine, entered this year’s Rally, which took drivers via Brussels and Prague to the final destination of Zagreb.

Sadly the German authorities decided not to allow Cannonball 8000 drivers to  cross their country at the last minute. Of course we respected the German authorities’ decision, and as soon as we had ascertained the situation Cannonball 8000 founder Conrad Wall made an announcement advising participants of the risk of impoundment if they entered Germany.  Unfortunately twenty-seven vehicles were subsequently stopped and impounded in Germany: all the rallyists affected will be contacted directly by Cannonball 8000.

The emphasis of the Rally was on fun, adventure, camaraderie and perseverance. The aim every year is for participants to have an enjoyable, exciting weekend with likeminded people against the backdrop of the fantastic and ever-changing scenery of Europe. A fantastic 90% of drivers made it to Zagreb for the final evening’s celebrations. Needless to say, spirits amongst the successful Cannonballers were high as they attended an official dinner reception hosted by the Mayor of Zagreb.

The celebrations came to a Grand Finale on Saturday 22nd September at London's Shearton Park Land Hotel for our annual post-Rally Awards Ball.
