Manchester to Brighton Rally
What a weekend! The very first Cannonball 8000 day rally from Manchester to Brighton was a greater success than anyone could have imagined. With over 70 cars lined up at Old Trafford and over 140 drivers and a crowd of spectators the start line was truly amazing. Following a flag wave from the glamorous girls at Boutique, the cars were off driving through Deansgate, which had been closed off by the Manchester Police, just for Cannonball!
Once out of Manchester everyone regrouped in a slightly sunnier place, the services off the M6 toll! This gave everyone a chance to dry out and catch their breath before heading down to Blenheim Palace. Entering through the Woodstock Gate, reserved for Cannonballers, Blenheim really did take your breath away. A stunning back drop for a spot of lunch some photos and a chance to catch up with everyone. We are unsure if the wedding party were quite as happy that we were there, especially the poor bride who perhaps got photographed a little less by her wedding party than the Lamborghinis did!
So after the refuel, everyone headed off to the final destination, Brighton. The sunshine had really come out for the arrival of the Cannonballers, along with a crowd of spectators who enjoyed a free show of amazing cars coming in to the chequered flag. Including Superman, who seemed to have finally found his wings and flew across the finish line, cape flowing!
Once everyone had arrived and checked into The Grand hotel, we headed to the beach for a night of food and drinks, and for the all important award of the day! Our first ever Cannonball 8000 day rally was awarded to the team who showed the most style and finesse. Without a shadow of a doubt, dressed in sharp suits and trilby’s our winners were Car 56 Wayne Stoner & Steve Cobden they walked away with a coveted Cannonball 8000 trophy and tickets to attend the Cannonball 8000 ball in September.
