The Beginning

Cannonball 8000 was created on July 29th 2002. Conrad with his love of cars and his philosophy of living life to the full in his own unique down to earth style, saw a gap in the market to establish a luxurious, extravagant, adventurous, exclusive rally event. He decided to make that event more accessible to everyone by running it over a long weekend, rather than demanding a week or fortnight of its entrants time. And so the Cannonball 8000 Europe rally was born.

 

Where we've been

The inaugural 2003 event began with 46 cars / 92 drivers, the route was from London to Monaco via Paris. The European event has grown year on year and since 2005 a limit of 120 cars/ 240 drivers has been put in place, ensuring the European rally is an exclusive and luxurious event. The European route changes every year with the idea being to drive some of the best roads that Europe has to offer, but also to introduce our drivers to some routes and roads they would perhaps otherwise never have cause to drive on.

 

In 2007 Cannonball 8000 started work on expanding the reach of the rallies, from one day events held in the UK through to the introduction of the South East Asia rally in 2009, allowing more people to experience the uniqueness that is Cannonball 8000.

 

The Cannonball Effect

Cannonball 8000 work with local governments, council departments and mayors’ offices, Cannonball 8000 continues to build relationships to secure the optimum reception for the rally in each location, thus aiding tourism to individual locations. These relationships have allowed us to gain permissions never before (or since) attained by any of our competitors. For instance Cannonball 8000 started its Prague leg to Budapest from the spectacular Prague Castle, a location so protected that even many of the local residents could not believe that we had managed to pull this off! We continue to strive to build these invaluable relationships across the world.

Cannonball 8000 continues to grow and looks forward to offering events covering more of the globe in the future as well as continuing to expand the brand through merchandising and television coverage to name but a few!
